Armed Citizen Kills Church’s Chicken Bandit

(Beaumont Examiner) Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) officers released the name of the man who was shot and killed while trying to rob a Church’s Chicken on Jefferson Drive.

According to the news release, Port Arthur resident Richardo Guient, 33, died at a local hospital after being shot by an armed citizen in the chicken restaurant Oct. 1.

Police say Guient, along with an unnamed suspect, entered the Church’s Chicken at 1849 Jefferson Dr., where they brandished handguns and attempted to rob the restaurant. 

That’s when an armed citizen intervened and shot Guient, according to the release.

“Several shots were fired and both suspects were struck,” the Port Arthur Police Department said in a press release. “The suspects fled the scene and were later located by police officers.”


(Texas Breaking) The armed customer who was eventually released remained at the scene and was questioned by detectives.

Currently, the incident is still under investigation by Port Arthur Police’s Criminal Investigations Division.

The robbery at the Church’s Chicken transpired just a day after another robbery at a Jack in the Box in the same town happened, but Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said that it is still unclear if the same two suspects were responsible.
