GOP Pushes Back on Biden’s War on Gas Stoves

(Corine GattiHeadline USA) President Joe Biden might be coming for gas stoves — but not if the GOP has their way. The Department of Energy proposed a rule that will take a chunk of gas stove models off the market. However, Republicans pushed back on Thursday, denouncing the proposal as a relentless war on U.S. gas and the American worker.

Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo. introduced the Natural Gas Appliances Standards Act of 2023 on Thursday to block the Joe Biden administration’s attempt to hurt the consumer.

Barrasso, who is a ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources slammed Biden in an interview with Fox News Digital.

“The Democrat war on natural gas is relentless. President Biden’s Climate Czar John Kerry wants Americans to stop using natural gas in eight years or less,” he said. “Gas is clean, efficient, and secure. Our reserves will last more than a century. My legislation will prevent the Department of Energy from using regulation to kill popular gas stoves, water heaters, and boilers.”

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La, who co-sponsored the bill, noted that the administration destroyed thousands of American jobs by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline in 2021.

“They drove up the cost of fuel, electricity, and utilities for families, and now they take away the freedom of choice as to what you cook on,” Cassidy told Fox News Digital. “Let’s stop this assault on the American consumer.”

In cowering to the climate alarmist cult, the Biden administration introduced new environmental regulations against air conditioners earlier this month. But the regime’s Energy Department was far from over with its new standards, targeting washing machines to use less water and reduce machines’ cleaning capacities, all in an effort to “confront the global climate crisis.”

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, 40% of American households use gas stoves for cooking.
